We've recently had some issues where crawlers were going crazy on the forum. We actually had to disable the website for several days.
We've since done some IP address blocking and we should now be back to normal. However, it's possible for the problem to reoccur, because it's difficult to prevent random bot- and script-driven "visitors" from arriving here. You can all help us out with a few preventative actions, though.
On the board index, down at the bottom of the page, there's a "users online" member and guest count.
Some of you might have noticed unusually high numbers there recently. Those figures are related to the problem. In fact, you can see that just this week, we supposedly had a record 727 visitors at one point. Of course, that's impossible...99% of that was automated or computer-driven.
If you see a big number again, then you can report it here. Doing so will at least give us a heads up that some new ones have arrived.
